Shawn New is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Houston, Texas.  He developed a profound love for music at an early age, surrounded by classic rock and soul/R&B from his parents' record collection. His journey took a turn at the age of 10 when he became a fan of The Monkees during their revival, merging his appreciation for pop with the vibrant sounds of the '80s.

Entering adolescence, Shawn joined the school choir, learned the guitar, and began crafting his own songs. Influenced by bands like The Church, XTC, Crowded House, and guitar legends like Eric Clapton, he embraced a diverse musical palette. However, it was Prince who became a crucial inspiration, driving Shawn to master multiple instruments and recording techniques, aspiring to be a self-sufficient music producer.

During high school Shawn's musical passion flourished as he produced, arranged, composed, and performed his creations. A rediscovery of his faith during this time profoundly shaped his songwriting. Engaging with his spirituality, he led worship at a small church in West Houston, creating a distinctive musical expression reflecting diverse influences and personal experiences.

In his 20s, Shawn continued his musical journey, serving in various churches and crafting songs that culminated in his debut self-titled album, independently released in 2006. As life unfolded, his focus shifted to raising his two children, but the advent of streaming services provided a new platform.

Seizing the opportunity to share his past recordings with a broader audience, Shawn revisited his debut album. The result is "Deliver Me," a 6-song EP released in December 2023. Featuring remixed tracks and alternate versions, the EP explores themes of faith, moving seamlessly from seeking to introspection to praise. Shawn describes it as a nostalgic yet forward-looking release, allowing him to reflect on his musical journey and offer a cohesive statement to his audience.
